EZGO 2004 weirdness

I just got a 2004 EZGO. Worked great first couple of weeks. Reverse buzzer never worked. Then magically, it started working again BUT sometimes wouldn't go in Reverse. Today the charger stopped working. When I plug charger into the port, the battery meter light on the dash turns off. I took the cover off the inside of charging port and realized the meter light on dash goes out BEFORE making contact with the male ends. It's just when they get about 1/2 inch away. Has anyone experienced any of this before?

And reverse is still hit or miss. All systems go when in Fwd.

I think what you're talking about is the reed switch. It's built in to the charger port to disconnect power to the drive system when the charger is plugged in. Keeps someone from trying to drive away and tear up the charger. Depending on exactly what configuration you've got, it could well be a problem with the contacts at the shifter OR microswitches at the shifter. Does you forward reverse switch / shifter have large gauge cables running to it, or just a rotating metal "hockey puck"?
