Default 89 Marathon Stripped Axle - help

Hi,
89 Marathon Electric
In very nice condition with mostly all new parts.

I have a passenger rear axle on my 89 electric marathon that is apparently stripped at the inner splines. Cart will move and drive, but only on the left axle, and the right side got some grinding and free wheeling going on.

Can't find this particular axle on Ebay. Lots of gas ones, and lots of 94-ups. Anyone got any parts for one of these, or know a parts hoarder I could contact?

I would check the hub. The axles don't usually strip but the splines can get filled with metal from the stripped hub. The metal can be cleaned out of the axel splines and with a new hub you should be good to go.

I got lucky. It was just a wheel bearing. Weird though, seals were there, but several balls missing. Will pull the cover and check there. Maybe someone previously installed with missing balls. Well either way, its getting all new ones, and the hub/axle pair were fine. Always happy with a cheapo fix

I would still check the hub splines. It sounds like you have a stripped hub to me

It has been my experience with these carts, if you have a stripped hub the cart won't move at all.

While you have the hub off, wire brush the splines then consider buying a 2 piece heavy duty hub.

The hub is in perfect condition. The splines are tight, coincentric, have no side or end play. The bearing was bad. It is replaced, and everything working fine.
