Default Re: Oversized Club cart solenoid

I just went through something similar on an 06 precedent when I upgraded the controller.
You MUST have a HD diode across the big terminals ( stripe end goes to batter side lug on solenoid) resister should remain and small diode on solenoid coil again making sure the stripe end of diode(+) goes on the PLUS wire coming from controller. On my cart the + was a light blue and the (-) was a dark blue with white stripe. that could be the problem. I went to the heaviest solenoid I could find ( orange and silver in color) ... Happy to help you if I can .. so many have helped me here..

Are you saying that you need 2 diodes on the solenoid?
1 across the activation circuit, and 1 across the big terminals with the precharge resistor? If so, can I assume the polarity of that diode is the same as the 1 across the activation circuit?

Alltrax XCT is the controller I know of that requires a regen diode on the solenoid big terminals. All others require a precharge resistor.
