Used Golf Cart Model Determination
I am having difficulty determining the year and model for my newly acquired Western golf cart. I have done a good amount of research and still do not have a definitive answer. I found a number, stamped into the frame, under the seat on the passenger side. The number is 10008411886, see pictures attached. I wasn't 100% sure on the last digit, could be a 5 but looks like a 6 to me.

Picture 1 shows an Ezgo Marathon frame. The controller has been mover forward and a 7th 6v battery has been added professionally. You have what looks like (without seeing body pics) a 1990 - 94 Western

Re: Used Golf Cart Model Determination
Scotty,
Thank you for the reply. I am including some body pictures if that helps to better identify the model and year. With the model and year information I am hoping to figure out if the controller and solenoid will support me going from 42v lead acid to 48v lithium (ease of maint). I’d like to know if I increase 6 volts to 48 if I would need to also replace the controller and solenoid? Any help would be appreciated. |

ScottyB, did the pictures help narrow it down? Thoughts on ability to go up to 48 volt lithium?

Re: Used Golf Cart Model Determination
The motor will handle 48 easily. The controller will probably run a while at 48, but I would be prepared to switch it over to 48 when it dies.

Re: Used Golf Cart Model Determination
Shout out to ScottyB for his advice and help in selecting upgrade parts!
As I dug into my project, I collected more information and wanted to share information (two way street) since I assume the components are factory and have not been modified. I pulled out and looked more closely at the Solenoid, Controller and Motor and found that the cart has: 1. Motor - GE Motors 48 volt, 5/11.5 HP, model 58C49JB299A, Amp 98/214 2. Solenoid - 36 vold, White Rodgers 70-120224-5 DC continuous coil 3. Controller - Curtis PMC 1205-101 24-36 volt, 400 AMP It was hard to read the data from the motor, and I could not find online via google confirmation of the specs using the model number. As a result, I opted to upgrade the controller and coil to better work with the 48 volt lithium battery upgrade from the original 42 volt lead acid battery set up. |
