Club Car Precedent headlights don't work
I have a 48volt Club car Precedent. I replaced the 4-12 volt batteries and now my headlights don't work. All of the wires were replaced the way they were. I checked the fuse and the small circuit breaker and they are both good. The headlights are the only thing that uses the auxiliary 12 volts. What can I check to figure this out? I also checked the light switch and it's good. Thanks

Re: Club Car Precedent headlights don't work
need more info....do you have a 48v to 12 volt converter? If not, probably were getting 12 volts from one of the batteries (before swap) and there should be Positive and negative wires coming from only one of the 12 volt batteries. Did they get hooked back up?

Re: Club Car Precedent headlights don't work
Thanks for the reply. I don't have a separate converter. I was wondering if the controller has a 12 volt output. I had one wire on the positive terminal of the first battery and one on the negative terminal of the last battery. These are the only extra wires that were connected.

Re: Club Car Precedent headlights don't work
Your cart runs off the 48volt system. The wires that come off the first battery and the last battery should be heavy gauge wires, like battery cables. Your 12 volt wires to the lights will be 2 little wires (one is red and one is black) that should be connected to only one of the 12 volt batteries. One of these wires will be run thru the light switch to connect/disconnect power to lights. I suspect that when your batteries were replaced, they were not reconnected. You can trace the wires from your lights and switch to find them.

Keep in mind that you'll likely need to replace all of your bulbs. If they were connected to 48v and you turned them on, there's pretty much a 100% chance that they all burnt out instantaneously.

I had a similar incident, replaced all the battery wires a few months back. Hooked everything back up and BAM big flash from the headlight and it was dead after that. Spent wayyy too much time tearing the cart apart looking for a converter that was not there only to find out the wiring may have been to only 2 batteries. Lesson learned. |
