Carburetor for ezgo??
I need a carburetor and have no idea the part # or the actual year of the cart.I am assuming from help here it is a 1988 ezgo ,model unknown. The muffler stands up on the driver's side. This cart is not like my 1989 marthaon under the hood , "seat" , lol.I am new to golf carts but loving them so far.

Unless the carburetor is missing, I wouldn't buy a new one.

Re: Carburetor for ezgo??
Missing pieces and I am not sure 100 percent that is an 88.I was hoping when I take the carb off it would have a part #.The carb is disgusting on the outside, lol. The cart has been setting in a garage for 3 years.I took the gas tank off emptied it .The body is in amazing shape for a 80s model. It has tail tail lights and head lights.I am assuming they sold it because they couldn't get it running. I put a new battery in , spins over so that's a plus. I didn't want to run old gas through it so didn't try to start it.The oil pump will probably be removed soon...

Take a picture of the engine. We can tell which engine it is. Most the carbs are still available OEM if it’s damaged or missing If it’s there, a can of carb cleaner and an air compressor goes a long way. 100x better than an aftermarket carb If you want to see if it’ll spit and sputter, use a syringe or something and pour about a bottle cap worth of gas in the spark plug hole. Replace the spark plug and see if she lights up. It should run for a few seconds and die |

Re: Carburetor for ezgo??
Thanks for the advice I can use all I can get .I am new to golf carts and loving them now. This makes my 3rd in about 2 months .I sold the one with a 18hp duromax...I absolutely hated it compared to the 89 marthaon. It was loud and idled like crap. Here is the pictures of the cart in question for the year.

Looks like the governor is not attached to anything but going into the carb. The plastic cover is not screwed or bolted to the driven clutch.

Re: Carburetor for ezgo??
There are so many posts on this lately, I'm getting confused on who has what.
Looking at the pictures above, I can see an 88 muffler. That's the only year it came. You can tell because the pipe is entering the top of the can. The carburetor picture is about an inch off. If it has a vertical choke shaft, it's a BV-24 that is also an 88. If it has a horizontal choke shaft, it's a BV-18 which came with all of the other 2PG engines. What could possibly be missing from the carburetor? The problem with the $19 amazon carbs is quality control. They may have the wrong size holes. Some come with only partially drilled holes. Some passages are completely missing. Many come full of shavings. You may buy a handful and get a good one. That has been known to happen. My brother crushed the float bowl on his original carb by tightening it too much. I had him buy an amazon carb and swapped bowls. It fit fine. What are your plans, and what do you want to do with this thing? This thread has pictures of my 87 carburetor. You can see the horizontal choke shaft and the spring under the throttle lever. That's what prevents backfiring. https://www.buggiesgonewild.com/showthread.php?t=119043 |
