Re: 96 ezgo decellaration rattle
Hey gorilla!
I hate to brake it to you but I suspect that your motor splines are on their way out along with the mating splines of the input shaft or whatever the correct term is! You describe exactly what mine was doing since the day I got it. From a high speed decel at certain speed range a growling noise would fade in and as rpm decreased it would actually fade out,go away. Until one day stepped on the go pedal and after the initial jump it just stopped and growled. Took the motor off and the internal splines of motor and external splines of shaft were licked off. I fixed it the redneck way by cutting 3 slots in the face of the armature and modified a large nut to have the 3 mating "bumps" going into it and carefully welded the nut on the input shaft of the gearbox. Installed motor and all is good,no more decel growl either. (My cart has the motor mounted sideways on top and not on the diff!) |

Re: 96 ezgo decellaration rattle
I had the exact same problem. Purchased a new input shaft and the noise disappeared. Old input shaft didn't look to bad but installing a new one made a huge difference...

I had the exact same symptoms.
New input shaft bearings fixed it! While you have the motor out though be sure the motor bearings are good before reassembling. |

Re: 96 ezgo decellaration rattle
on the casing attached to the rearend up at the motor. Pull the motor off and you will see a male splined shaft sticking out of the rear, that is the input shaft. Use snap ring pliers and then pull the input shaft out.
