My steering wheel to tires connection is sloppy...I think it's just the sum of play within the tie rods, ball joints, steering arm, and steering box.

Are we talking about loose steering like not able to hold a direction, or are we saying there's wobble?

Not really a wobble on mine, steering seems tight. Just a clunk every now and then when you hit a small bump.

Same thing for me. My steering is fine it's just the noise when hitting bumps that's driving me crazy.

I before my tear down that clunking/popping noise you guys speak of. I took my rack apart. Cleaned everything and regressed all the guts. My tie rods on the drag link both had in and out play so they got replaced. Check your tie rod assembly for in and out play.

Like the wheels and the steering wheels are dancing at different paces? With cars you would add some toe in to "load" the suspension. Think that would work?

Give it a shot. Toe in both sides a degree and see what it does.

My '96 Series clunks over bumps. Found out the brass thrust washer on the king pin is missing.....just another minor thing.....

I have not have time to tear it down really yet but I did take the rubber boot loose and pull it down and there is slack around the rack. I can't find anywhere that sells the bushing that goes in there though. Not sure if that's the only problem or not yet but hopefully I will get time to tear it down more soon.
