Default Im new and have questions

Hello all, im new to the golf cart craze and purchased an 08 club car turf 1 yesterday. The cart has 1700 hrs and was used on a local golf course. The kid i purchased it from works at the course and figured he would change the oil before i got there and long story short it is smoking like crazy. I need some help with what size the engine is, oil level, and any ideas that may help. Also it this a lot of hrs? Should I be thinking about rebuilding it? Im going to use it for yard work. It was raining today and diddnt get to play with it, i think its over filled with oil.
Thanks for the help

Check the oil level. If it's overfilled, it will smoke.

There should be a bar code sticker on the engine shroud,

FE 290 = 9.5 hp
FE 350 = 11.5 hp
FE 400 = 13.5 hp

welcome Sir
this place is a close to heaven and the Library of congress all rolled into one!
great people, great information, great help

the only advise - read all the stickies before asking a question- a lot of times the information is there
and come with the model, year and as many numbers as you can find- I have an electric ezgo/bad boy buggy for hunting and the serial numbers arre in the glove compartments
NOw that I also have a Club car, I looked and looked in every space I thought they would BE and didn't find them- I do not know who showed me, look right in the middle off the dash and then look down about 4 inches and waaalaaaaa there they be LOLO
te man did not enbarrassss me for being uneducated, he taught me- again grat people great information

I forgot to look at my hour meter before I left my cart this morning,
but I'm pretty sure I have over 2400 hours on my FE350 since I bought it new in 07, and it still runs like a top!
So 1700 hours may not be so bad! BUT... it all depends on how it was treated at the golf course!

Ok so i drained the oil today and looks to me that it was overfilled. What is the correct oil amount to put in 32 oz? I started with that and i think it needs a bit more, but the dipstick says to add a little more. It's now not smoking non stop but does smoke when you take off. What could this be? Valve seals? Or i need a new piston and rings? I have build many dirtbike engines for my kids and I'm not scared to tear into this small engine at all but wanted to hear from the guys working on thease engines. Any info is good so shoot
