Re: plowmans spring with briggs motor
It has plenty top end as i can hit 40 easy. It just dont have that midrange at all. Seems to not rev high enough after idle which tells me its in the clutch.

Re: plowmans spring with briggs motor
What kind of clutch and does it have the stock carb? 40mph seems pretty good on the top end.

Re: plowmans spring with briggs motor
Probably is clutch related. I just switched my clone out with a twin and went with a 780 comet over my stock yamaha clutch and the secondary definitely needed some tuning.

Re: plowmans spring with briggs motor
With a 23hp cam you might need to run a larger carb to get it to run best. I would change out secondary spring if you haven't already and see how it does. Take a look at your secondary ramps and sheaves. Make sure your belt is good.

Re: plowmans spring with briggs motor
Get a tach and see what its doing. Even a cheap $15 lawn tach will work but are a pain to read as they update slow. Then change your clutch to get it right.

Re: plowmans spring with briggs motor
Belt is brand new. Sec ramp is good. Has the stiff plowmans spring in it and it did the same thing.
