Default 1997 Yamaha G16 NO Brakes!!!

So, I knew last season when I got my cart that the brakes weren't the greatest. Thought no big deal, will just replace the pads and springs over winter. Well, today I started tear down for preparation for my lift kit install and decided to check the brakes. To my surprise, this is what I find on the drivers side

There are literally no brakes on the drivers side, none. All parts gone. Now, I know I need the spring bendex kit, pads and a self adjuster. But, there is another piece that slides in opposite of the adjuster that the brake shoe bracket sits in, not sure what it's called. Maybe I'm better off buying the whole pre assembled brake assembly for the drivers side?? Passenger side is great and has lots of life left.

If you are going with a lift & big tires, might as well go with ScottyBs Ausco disc brake kit. Better brake power, with less pedal effort.

I love how easy these things are to work on. Pulled the hub off and removed what was left of the braking system on the drivers side. What is left looks to be in really good shape. I've sourced out a complete replacement brake assembly from the local Custom Carts at $150, so I don't think I could buy the parts to rebuild this one for that price. If I can let me know please. This is what I have to work with..

Wow, someone really brilliant worked on that cart huh? Yeah you will have to shop around for a full replacement. Make sure that lever works freely they can tighten up.

That is not the correct brake for a g16, that is from a G1, G2, or early G9.

yes, you are correct, but it will bolt up, and it will work correctly.
