Default Battery for Yamaha Drive Gas

The 12v battery in my 2011 Yamaha Drive Gas has died. It appears to be the original (JG5-H2110-20) battery.

Any suggestions on the best replacement battery?

The original battery for all gas yamahas ever (sold here) are known to the automotive world as a "Group 24" size battery. Thats what your battery tray and hold down was designed to hold. Having said that, i will add that i dont ever put "wet" batteries in my "12v" stuff at all anymore (and i never have corroded terminals, tray or wires). I am currently running a (stupid expensive) Deka part number "8a22nf" AGM that fits with the stock hold down. I rebuilt my battery tray with a "street-sign-like-object", so i cant say if it fits the stock tray perfectly or not, your tray is molded plastic & flat bottom, so it wont matter as much to you. I dont use "optimas" anymore, as i feel their quality is not what it used to be.

Thank you!

I agree with you on "wet" batteries and the issues they cause. It's a shame about Optima batteries as their quality has gone down as their price goes up.

Still looking for the best deal.

I been using a marine battery, its nice to wire accessories to the terminals on them. It also has posts. I wash the engine regularly it gets very dusty, so no problems with corrosion.

good call man. The added wingnut terminals definitely make it super easy to add accessories. That's what I'll be going with when my battery bites the dust.

I like the idea of the marine battery. But it appears most marine batteries have a 12 month replacement warranty, while the car battery I bought has a 40 month replacement warranty.
