Oil
My G1 1982 2 stroke golf cart is finally running again and if possible I'd like to keep it that way. I have no idea how do to determine if the oil in the reservoir is actually making its way into the engine. I've had it for about 5 years and the level has never went down. Can someone help me understand how the system delivers oil and advice what to check?

Re: Oil
I premix at 50:1 with synthetic vp oil and rec fuel. Doesn't smoke but does have an odor at times. I did this because its old and the bottom end is unknown. just want it kept lubricated.
That being said a lot of people remix at different levels for different reasons. all I can say is read up on it and make your own decision. Lots of people mix at 80:1. |

Re: Oil
Should be able to mix synthetic oil at 100:1 and burn pretty clean, no issues.
The pump pumps more with pressure on the hose to the muffler iirc. You put a vacuum pump and pressurize it, it should smoke some if working. The tank lasts a long time but no I don't know how you test it really. I know you can run many tanks of fuel for one qt of oil, so if you don't use many tanks a year you wont see much oil use. Some summers on my cart I only used two tanks, you can do a lot of driving around on a tank of fuel in carts. |

Re: Oil
GC liked to gas up the carts once a week. Figure a cart can do maybe three 18s a day times 7 days. Average 18 is four miles so 12 miles a day, or 84 miles a fill up. A bad golfer it will be more. Now a course may not be full every day but that would be a possible maximum usage. And a cart would get even better mpg at 12mph on a GC than we run them. 5 gallons, you only need 20mpg to cover 100 miles.

Re: Oil
What type of oil should I use? I guess this makes me sound dumb, but if I use 5 gallons of gas then I use how much oil? What do you use to measure it with? I tried searching but this stupid Tapatalk app doesn't work very well for this forum on my phone.

Re: Oil
I suggest 100:1 but what ever your run this works perfect for figuring out our mixture http://www.premixcalculator.com/ as for actually measuring any local automotive paint supply store has nice clear measuring cups or you could get something like this https://www.walmart.com/ip/SeaSense-...&wl13=&veh=sem

Re: Oil
100:1 = 1.28 oz/gal. Use air oil for air cooled engines as opposed to marine oil...
I just use a plastic kitchen measuring cup... |
