Vibration in my Yamaha G8
I just got a G8 and I am getting some vibration when starting and taking off in forward and reverse. It’s fine when I’m going down the road. Is this normal? Should it be taking off smoothly like a quad or something? It’s been awhile since I’ve owned one and done remember if previous ones vibrated like this one. It runs fine and doesn’t miss or anything. Could it be motor mounts? Clutch? How can I troubleshoot? Thanks, I’m a newbie and hope I described the problem well enough. Thanks in advance

Re: Vibration in my Yamaha G8
Make sure that the engine tensioner is still in place. If missing, the engine will move under acceleration.

Re: Vibration in my Yamaha G8
I agree, probably tensioner issue. If that and the motor mounts check out ok, I'd lean toward the rear clutch and rear clutch bushing. Probably a good idea to go ahead and lightly grease both clutches anyway if you haven't already. But check the rear clutch to make sure it isn't somewhat loose or crooked. Bushing that hits the axle shaft could be dry, worn, and sticking. Check the top of both sheaves to makes sure they are not warped. And inspect your drive belt.

Re: Vibration in my Yamaha G8
Yep, they wear out pretty quick on these models. Not the best made mounts either. One of my old G9's, I ended up locking the front one's to the frame so it didn't move at all with a piece of L channel. Never really had an issue with it after that.

Re: Vibration in my Yamaha G8
I'm still running stock mounts on my G9 420 clone with a vegas cam and rod in it, but I did make a solid tensioner bolt. This cart has been inside most of the time since '99 when I got it lol and its only me using it usually. The mounts are soft though, and the clone has no vibration. But I keep an eye on them, I didn't want to get rid of them but know they are not made for this.
