Default need help with choke and parking brake 86 G1

hey guys new to the forum and golf carts so first question should the choke stay out when you pull it or will it return when you let off when i got the cart it stayed out but i pulled the dash to install a light switch now when i release the choke it returns back in when you let off it is a new cable the previous owner installed and 2nd question when i got the cart the parking brake worked but you had to push very hard to engage it then all of a sudden it stopped engaging will catch for a second then pops i readjusted the brake cables so they weren't so tight seemed to work but then it stopped again same thing clicks engages for like a second then pop sorry for the long post any help is greatly appreciated thank you

The choke is supposed to go off when you let go of it.

The park brake latch is likely a pedal problem, not a cable adjustment problem. Yamaha has used the same pedal latch system forever, so any info on the site about Yamaha parking brake latch stuff will point you in the right direction.

i have searched and i am not finding anything that's why i posted the question i believe its either the pawl or the striker plate haven't had much time to mess with it i will post a fix when i figure it out

I've has to use a dremmel on the notches of the parking brake they get rounded off after time
