Default Looking at a G9...value?

Looking at a G6. Supposedly runs well with new set of rings. Stud broken off starter so can't hear it run. Buying with assumption of possibly needing to put a clone on it (which I have).

Guy is asking $1k...

What say you??

I was thinking $500 - $600 ?

Never trusting a seller or what they claim... if I cant hear/see it run then i dont believe them.

It looks like it is in decent shape, but value would (to me) depend how the frame looks. If it is rotted then obviously thats a big difference from a good solid frame.

I'd go around 500 max unless he can prove it runs good like it should.

Don't know the seller, don't want to say anything bad about him. But I'm always leery of a supposed great running anything that supposedly won't start because of something minor.

That’s a G9. A G6 doesn’t exist. [emoji16] I’m sure you know that.

Yes, I certainly assume nothing regarding running condition.

Yep, I meant G9, just a typo. Thanks for everyone's input. He is solid at $700 so I will let him think on my offer a while..

I'd agree with that. I'd stick firm on the $500, assuming the frame isn't rotted. Not uncommon for it to rust out pretty bad underneath the battery on the cross supports, but check the frame right there for rust. Not a hard repair, it's a big round tube; easy to cut out and patch in a new tube. But something to look out for anyway.

If he can fix the "broken stud" and make it start, I'd certainly jump on it for $700 :)

I would pull the valve cover look at the valve train movement and along with that with the hand turning see if there is compression. While the valve cover is off it is a great time to see how the engine has been maintained.

If he fixed the starter and it runs he's not going to take 700 for it. He wants 700 not running
