Default G1 secondary spring upgrade

I have read that the aftermarket red torque spring for the G1 does not let the rear end shift right. Is there another spring that i can get for it? I have seen that there is a white spring for the G2 and up, will this fit the G1? Also i have read about putting in a spacer to help the stock spring, does this work for the secondary spring or just the primary spring? I would like to have some better hill climb torque but can't spend the $260 on a plowman's clutch kit right now. Any advise will be appreciated.

Put a shim in the secondary clutch. 1/4" to 3/8". A simple piece of plastic pipe will work. The 2 strokes don't respond very well to the stiffer secondary springs. They just need a little more compression but must be able to shift out completely a lot sooner.

So is this worn out or does it have some life left? I replaced the shoes, added a pcv sch80 1/4" spacer, and cleaned it.

It's fine. That's normal wear and tear. I've seen them get so bad that they wear holes through them.

That's good to hear. I was just looking up prices for it, holy cow. Might as well save up and spend the extra coin for the plowmans kit.

Harbor freight gauges are junk. Yes, possible you need a rebuild, but first i would re check compression with a good gauge.
