Engine
Put my 1994 gas club car away for winter, went to start it the other day and battery has full charge and engine won't turn over, but do get clicking sound from solenoid. If I put jumper wire from battery to solenoid engine does turn. Tested solenoid with meter and show good too. New brush's in generator too. Thank you for your time.

Re: Engine
sounds like maybe a bad connection or something, since you can JUMP it with a jumper tells you starter/gen is ok
when you jump it does engine try to start ?? also has fuel gotten to engine yet, fillled filters, and into carb /?? usually takes a few cycles to get fuel there. |

Re: Engine
engine won't even spin over unless I jump from battery to solenoid. Solenoid does click, but like no power going to gen from solenoid when I turn key.

Re: Engine
If the solenoid clicks, you have a Damaged Battery Cable or the solenoid is corroded or worn out inside.
Battery cables are cheap and good measure to just replace anyway. |

Re: Engine
When you use the jumper, where are you touching? the small post or the large one on the motor side of the solenoid? If you are touching the small post on the solenoid and it spins then you have a corrosion issue in the small wires that feed the solenoid through the foot micro switch or bad micro switch. you might read 12V with a meter but again, you need amps to energize the solenoid.

Re: Engine
If the solenoid is clicking when you step on the pedal, then I would assume you've got signal (voltage) coming IN to the solenoid. You should be able to verify with a meter. On the 2 small posts, one wire should have continuity to ground (less than 1 ohm resistance to negative battery terminal). The other terminal should show ~12 volts when you step on the gas pedal.
If that checks out good, then you should be up and going if you replace the solenoid. Don't get one of the cheap $20 ones on amazon/ebay. Get an OEM one if you want it to last. |
