Bore & Stroke Dimensions for a 86 Gas car
I have my motor torn down. I need some specs from a manual if at all possible. The bore measures round, but i don't know what specs are. The piston is junk (worn) and the rings are done. Basically, i need to know if i'm looking at a top end kit, or just a piston kit. :)
Thanks to everybody. I appreciate the help! |

Re: Bore & Stroke Dimensions for a 86 Gas car
Welcome Gregm to BGW .......... As the recent acquirer of an 86 EZGO I'll be following your build and because it looks like we're both in the engine rebuild boat. Post some pics .... cause we like pics in here .... lots of them.
Someone will probably come by soon with some answers to specific questions right now I don't have any either ...... good luck |

HEY where's the motor??? The short block. The rod bearing is tight, and the crank seals are dry and soft. Looks like just a top end at this point. Now, a few pictures of the piston, jug, & head. And the plug.. |

Would recoment tcw3 oil when get it rebuilt to help stop the deposits. Also helps on ring compaction.

Re: Bore & Stroke Dimensions for a 86 Gas car
wtf....
It's kinda hard to tell from those pics but you may only have one choice. It looks like the piston is stamped with an oversize number on top, can't tell what it says from the pic, If it's the biggest oversize piston then you'll have to get a complete top end kit with new gaskets cylinder, piston, rings. If it's not, you may be able to get by with going the next size up piston/rings and boring out the cylinder for it's last time. (i'd get the whole kit) This is real hard to tell given the pic shows so little of the cylinder and it's hard to tell how much damage is done to it. |

Re: Bore & Stroke Dimensions for a 86 Gas car
It's looking like it is cheaper to get a complete top end kit (jug, piston, rings, gaskets, etc) than a piston & having it bored.
This motor has been lacking power for a couple years....now i know why. :( The only oil i've ran it on for the 5 years i've owned it was Blendzall Castor oil. I thought that was 'good' oil. Fishing dude recommends TCW3 oil. I thought that was for watercraft? it runs fine in land stuff too? (not sure why it wouldn't) I may be thinking of a different oil. |
