Default No Spark

Well got my cart all the way back together after being ripped apart for 2 months or so and im having trouble getting spark. The motor just turns and doesnt fire. Have tried multiple times to the point where it gets flooded. Taken the plug out cycled it through to clear gas from the cylinder, dried the plug off still nothing. I have an inline spark checker and with that it shows spark fine, flickers orange just like it should but then when its just the plug and you ground it to the block you get no spark? I am lost because the checker is showing spark just like it should but then nothing on the plug. I know you might suggest drying the plug, Ive done that and even tried a different, Brand new dry plug and still nothing. Kind of confused. Im pretty sure everything is hooked up correctly... Any ideas? 91 DS w/ KF82.

i,m confused if tester is sparking but none at plug ( grounded ) all you have is plug wire, plug, coil, exitor coil and possible rpm limitor.....if you have it its mounted right on top of coil....................

Well, after more screwing around, I discovered the plug checker is messed up. The thing shows spark even when its not grounded out. Using a rag i held the other end straight up in the air not touching anything rounded to the frame and it was still showing spark... With that being said where shall I start to diagnose a no spark issue? The motor was taken out and apart but is all back together now. (Fly wheel wasnt removed or the coil on that side) and cart was running fine before.

if its the flathead its either the coil or the exitor coil ( under flywheel ) its possible it has an rpm limitor and if so thats mounted right on the coil..........those are the 3 things where your spark comes from...........................

I'm glad you got it worked out! who'd a thought it was "just" a ground strap!

It had me confused as much as you! (and pretty much everyone else!)
Thanks for posting the outcome, it may help others down the road!
