Question Engine Swap

I just had a 98 Club Car given to me.The engine is toast and I was thinking about a swap. This is a clockwise rotation and most engines I have looked at
are CCW. I'd like to use the starter generator. What is involved in getting it to spin CCW? Also, Am I going to have problems with the trans. running in reverse?

I don't have a definitive answer to your first question but I do know that certain SG units can be wired for either configuration by reversing the polarity. In answer to your second question "running in reverse" The transaxle is geared lower in reverse so you will lose approximately 5mph. This can be remedied by cranking up the the governor system to allow the engine to rev a little higher and thus bring your cart to normal operating speed parameters.

Or you can swap the rear axle to an older club cart rear end that is made for ccw engines.

OR......

Being that I have a stock 07 FE350 in my cart that has loads of torque, (and MPH's that I'd prefer not to tell you about),

you could check into this...
