Club Car DS Gas Starter Slipping
Hi All
I just purchased a 2000 Club Car DS Gas cart. It ran fine when I tested it and I got it home and the when I push on the gas I get a squeeling sound in forward and reverse for a few seconds and then it starts. Is there an easy way to tighten the starter belt of has mine stretched or is the starter starting to go bad. Let me know if you need any additional information. Thanks for your help!! |

Re: Club Car DS Gas Starter Slipping
Hi
I also took it out on some hills today and when I tried to go up a steep hill from standing still it wouldn't climb it. I have 27" inch tires on it. I am wondering if both belts are loose. |

The starter/generator belt is adjustable, the drive belt is not!
I'd suggest replacing both the s/g belt and the drive belt at the same time as soon as you can! With your 27" tires, I'd suggest Dixie Sales/Cart Parts Plus "Severe duty" Drive belt, It's a little more expensive then the standard belt, but, it's worked wonders for my cart w/25's! Thanks-Are the very difficult to put on? Are there any special tools needed? I am fairly handy and can replace bushings, wheel bearing, etc.

Re: Club Car DS Gas Starter Slipping
With 27" tires, I'm guessing you have a pretty high lift, and should be fairly easy to access from above or below!
The drive belt just "rolls off" of the driven (rear) clutch, nothing to loosen. The s/g belt comes off by loosening the s/g mounting bolts, similar to an "old school" alternator on a car. It's easier with a lift, then it is with a stock height cart! |

Re: Club Car DS Gas Starter Slipping
Thanks-I will give it a try. I noticed the drive belt I have on there now does not have any notches. Should it have notches like the one in your link?
I also noticed I have a rattle on my muffler hitting the metal holder that secures it. it is just sitting on that holder. Is there something easy I can wedge under it (1/4" thick) to make not rattle? I am not sure if they make a high temperature rubber washer that could take the heat of a muffle. Thanks for your help!! |

Re: Club Car DS Gas Starter Slipping
Stock drive belts are not "double cogged"... that's one of the things that make the Severe Duty belt better!
as for the muffler rattle, I don't really know what may be causing that, or how to cure it without seeing it, If you posted a pic of the suspected area... it might help! |

Sorry about that. Attached is the picture of the bracket that it holding the muffler. There is nothing securing it. It is just sitting on the bracket and I think this is causing it to rattle when I am driving.

Re: Club Car DS Gas Starter Slipping
Got it!
There is supposed to be a large hose clamp to hold it in place! |
