Default Install torque spring with plastic spacer?

Ok need some advice. Just replaced rear clutch assembly with a new one. Also added the Jakes high torque spring. After reassembling and installing new belt, I picked up the instructions from Jakes that says do not install white plastic spacer between sheaves. Unfortunately I read the instructions that came with the clutch and did install the plastic spacer.
Can I leave it in there or do I need to take it apart and remove it? I cant see where it will hurt, but everyone on here knows alot more than this newbie in Indiana. Its a 1996 G14.
Thanks for the help.
By the way I took the forums advice and am now waiting on a custom seat from XT-Innovations.
Will post build pics when I figure out how.

You do not need to remove the spacer. If you don't feel like taking it back apart then leave it in there, it will be fine.

Removing the spacer and/or cutting the secondary sheave makes them come closer together. This makes a lower 1st 'gear' for towing and takeoff. If your belt sits at top of secondary now its ok, but cut sheave it will sit partly out the top of it. You can also put a 1.25 wide belt on and do near the same thing though it might make the primary drag a little depending how close it is. So it depends on how much you need WOT power at <5mph, if you don't you will never notice. If the cart has 20" or less tires you likely will not notice unless you are pulling car trailers or similar.

I have a clone in my cart now but before that I put a cut sheave on and a wider HD belt. It works great with the clone I just popped the front tires about 10" off the ground today on the driveway, hope for more if I ever get new clutch in there its still stock primary. It makes the rpm climb faster on takeoff, better on steep hills, better for towing, but normal driving around it makes no difference. This is why a worn belt will bog on takeoff on a lifted cart, and is how you get better takeoff than a new belt.

Thanks for all the input. Im taking the all knowing forum gurus advice and leaving it in there for now.

Fired it today and went for a spin, looks like everything is fine except my belt seems to be overly loose when stopped. Is there an adjuster or just loosen motor and slide it forward? Should it be completely loose when stopped?
Both clutches and belt were shot when I started so I have nothing to compare it too.

Thanks again

Yes, it is "floppy" when stopped. Normal.
