Re: G9 Flooding Badly
Will check for a sunken float when I stick the rebuild kit in. Of all the stuff that could be wrong, that would make the most sense given what it's doing - I just didn't feel or hear any gas in it the first time I had it apart. Good tip on the old brass floats!

Re: G9 Flooding Badly
Maybe to much gas pressure going to carb. Try a t fitting on the fuel line into the top of the gas tank. Make sure your pcv is clear with no restrictions or kinks.

Re: G9 Flooding Badly
Is this the PCV valve inside this hose that is "teed" into the pulse line for the fuel pump? What is the procedure for testing this?

Re: G9 Flooding Badly
Do not skip changing the needle valve. They have been my biggest problem, never a sunken float. Rubber tip on needle gets a "ring" worn into it, preventing a positive seal.

Re: G9 Flooding Badly
Thanks cgtech. The kit is on the way, so that'll be the first thing I do. In the meantime, I pulled the carburetor back apart and set the float up slightly so that the needle valve would actually shut off, it didn't seem to be doing that all the way before. When upside down, the float sits level where it was slightly raised before. Now the cart runs, but only with the choke out! I went from one extreme to the other, any ideas??? Airbox appears sealed and in order.

Re: G9 Flooding Badly
A can of carb cleaner, some compressed air, a torch cleaning tool and the new carb kit. Should have you going!

Re: G9 Flooding Badly
I hope so! Gonna pick up a torch tip cleaning tool locally, I've always wanted one for this type of thing but never had one.
For reference when I'm putting it all together (again) in a few days: can anyone tell me the correct procedure and settings for the float on a G9? |

Re: G9 Flooding Badly
When the light spring in the needle is compressed, the float should be parallel with the bowl mounting surface.
