Squeeky steering
2001 EZGO Series TXT. Upgraded to 4ga, hd f/r contactor, 500 amp solenoid and 48v. Stock tires. Does 18mph sound about correct? I really want to hit 25mph. Don't want to pull over for neighborhood traffic Planning on disc brakes, 22 inch tires with 4 inch lift. May need a pq bandit?
Anyway my main question is how do I lubricate the steering components?? It's quite squeeky. Thanks in advance! |

Okay I'll answer my own question. Looks like it's the ball joints and there are 3 zerk fittings to lube. Hopefully that solves the loud squeaks and creaks when turning the wheel.

Re: Squeeky steering
The KingPins on mine were rusty and no longer had any sort of lubrication. I disassembled everything and greased with High Temp Bearing grease. Every thing is silent now and smooth as butter to turn!

Thanks tc. It was in fact the ball joints. Dry as a bone. Hubs are a little creaky but gonna put all new hubs soon. Had to learn how to remove a grease gun from fitting. Angle and twist.

Sweating bullets. Thought I broke my harbor fright grease gun hitting it with a hammer holding with wrench. Then buddy showed me just twist the fitting and opens up.

Re: Squeeky steering
Try greasing splines then tightening the "crap" out of castle nut.
85ft. lbs -- unofficially higher torque is ok. |
