Picked up a BV24 for my cart and have a question
Picked up a BV24 for my cart and have a question about the throttle. As some of you know I have a 1989 3pg which is a pull throttle with governor and all linkage removed, the BV24 I picked up off a 1988 2pg is a push throttle (spring holds throttle WFO!) with a pressed on linkage. I have not left work yet to mess with it but would like some ideas before I get to work on it. Is it as simple as changing spring position? I will get a better look at it when I get home.
Thanks, Scott |

Ok, got home tore down the carb to clean it, throttle shaft was not pressed so I pulled the linkage and looked through my other carbs and found the correct spring on another bv18 I had.......All Good!

Re: Picked up a BV24 for my cart and have a question
Well the BV24 seems a little fat, I am doing the HEI this week so I will see how it does after that. I picked it up cheap so I figured it was worth a shot.

Like to see some pics of your throttle linkage area.

I appreciate the pics. Especially the last one. Forgive my ignorance, but you have the governor screw tightened all the way down and have it directly to the carb? With it being that way I see there is no return spring needed. What kind of motor hazards are present with bypassing the governor.

Is the governor arn hooked up, or loose on the shaft and acting merely as a pivot/ratio-increaser?

Re: Picked up a BV24 for my cart and have a question
Terry, who are you asking? The shaft is flat sided so I is not just a pivot point but it has no effect on the throttle and I assumed because I have the spring cranked all the way down.
