Got the new vr and it is different from the oem eventho I ordered a hitatchi. Has no set screw just a spring. Still only reads 10.5 volts on d+ and 1.5 on df. Exciter wires on starter read 6.3 ohms. Battery reads 11.5 volts while running so im guessing its still not charging...what am I missing?

You have to remove the lid to adjust regulator. If you have it open, post a couple pics.

I ordered a new generator as well and installed it today. Still not charging. The voltage regulator and starter came from golfcartcare.com. is there something that tells the generator when to charge?

does anyone have any ideas? If it could be in the wiring what should I check? There are a few relays I'm not sure what they are for except the flasher relay for the turn signals. Should the starter stop turning on its own after the cart is running? Could the battery be the problem even tho it takes and holds a charge from my charger?

I ran a jumper wire from the red/white wire coming off the voltage regulator to the red/white wire coming out of the starter just to eliminate a possible bad connection. Running the battery showed about 11.5volts. I put the old voltage regulator back on and adjusted it out enough to get the battery to read 11.8 volts running. Still not getting enough juice. Tomorrow I'll run a jumper for the green wire as well. This tells me that the generator is producing something and that the old vr works....correct me if I'm wrong....any ideas?

The problem is the new generator has the f1and f2 terminals 180° off and the spot for the tensioner assembly is on the opposite side. So I had to swap the f wires to where they run into the generator. And I'll have to relocate the tensioner assembly....

All 3 wires to the vr have continuity between them. None have 12 volts even with the key on. I ran the redwhite wire to the positive battery terminal. It made the engine run smoother but ran with .3 volts less at the battery.....I'm just trying stuff shooting in the dark here...any ideas?

Do I need to polarize the generator?
