Default Loose G1 belt?

So my G1 is slow and barely makes it up inclines and squeals pretty good when staring and or going up hill or curbs. Basically any time I ask it for too much. Does this look normal and if not how do I fix this?

Definitely not normal. The secondary clutch is either weak, or frozen up. Pull it apart and see what is wrong with it.

So I'm new to all of this. Where exactly do I look for that and how do I pull it apart. I guess a good shop manual would be a good idea. I need to find out what year this is.

If you pull the belt off, you can check to see if the clutch has any tension on it at all.
The clutch should close up completely, and it should take a considerable amount of effort to move the two sheaves(sides of the clutch) apart.

Oh yeah there's absolutely no tension between the sheaves. It's stuck all the way open but I did notice when it's on it closes up and the belt rides at the top of the sheaves until I give it more gas.

I guess what I need to know or figure out is what's it supposed to look like sitting at rest.

The belt should be all the way at the top of the clutch.

Check for a broken spring, or a frozen sheave.

It looks frozen. I'm having trouble getting the castle nut off the secondary sheave. Would I have to replace both sheaves?

You can tell if it is frozen. If it doesn't return to fully closed with no belt installed, try pulling it by hand. If it returns easily, it is not frozen, and the spring is likely broken.
