New to me g9 oil leak
I actually had another thread going about tire clearance. The cart is lifted with just an economy 4" lift.... What does this equate to for oil level?
I will keep and rebuild my carb if signs point to that direction, but for curiosity sake what's the negative? Is there a rebuild kit you suggest over others? When I had the plastic cover around the motor off to clean my oily mess I replaced those gaskets (including exhaust), should they be good still or replaced again? |

Re: New to me g9 oil leak
The same for the oil, one quart only, and that is your full mark.
Probably just need the float needle valve. but the carb needs to be taken all apart and cleaned. Then a new fuel filter (and air filter) put in. And yes, the gaskets are probably fine!! |

I haven't exactly fixed my problem but I was sitting there thinking about it.... Can the float valve really go bad in a matter of a few days? I took it for a spin not too long ago, and next thing you know it's not moving and the air of is full of gas/oil

Yes, it's leaking past the rings when it's not running!! When it's running, it's burning the gas. Sitting is when this takes place!!

Finally got back on the cart.... Rebuilt carb, replaced valve cover gasket, oil changed w/ 10w-30! Cart runs real good now after a 5 minute cruise... but when I parked it and checked under the hood the valve cover is pretty hot, is that normal? I can leave my hand on it for about 1 second before I have to take in off in fear of burns.

They get hot but also check the exhaust pipe off the head and the gasket there. A good test is to put the cart up on jack stands turn the engine on and give it some revs.If something is leaking you will feel the very hot stream of air.

Re: New to me g9 oil leak
If you cleaned all the fins inside, also check the cooling air intake on the side of the engine for leaves and such, and if you run it and air is blowing out the side from the engine fins, you are good. That cover will get hot when running it, it is directly on the head where the most heat is made.
