EZGO PDS Switched Ignition / Accessories Help
Hi all. Im looking for some help and I can't find another post that specifically addresses my vision in an easy to read format.
Here are the specifics on the cart and accessories:My vision is to have the third position of the ignition switch turn on the Madjax which then powers the converter and all accessories. I have separate switches mounted on the dash for the 2 light systems so they do not need to be on at all times. My question is, what is the best and easiest way to power the converter through the ignition switch? Do I need a relay or something else or can I simply connect the switched ignition wire to the switched converter wire? Ive got the cart all apart and want to do this correct the first time. Thanks to all in advance! |

Re: EZGO PDS Switched Ignition / Accessories Help
You don't actually power the converter through the keyswitch. The green wire (Pin-4) is simply a remote ON, which is low amps and no relay is needed.
High current from the battery pack is the yellow wire (Pin-3), which is either wired directly or through an in-line fuse to the battery pack's main positive terminal. |

Re: EZGO PDS Switched Ignition / Accessories Help
This weekend I will do all the wiring and hopefully have everything up and running.
One more question: What gauge wire should I run between my 6 x 6V batteries to the converter? A list of accessories is above for an idea on amperage draw. Thanks again to the BGW community for the help! |

Re: EZGO PDS Switched Ignition / Accessories Help
Max out at 12V is 30A, so max in at 36V would be 10A if the converter was 100% efficient, which it isn't.
At 50% efficiency, the max input draw would be 15A, so 14Ga would suffice. Use same gauge wire that is used in the pigtail supplied with the unit, or thicker and you should be okay. |

Re: EZGO PDS Switched Ignition / Accessories Help
Hi I have a 2003 EZGO PDS. I’ve made a similar wiring setup but noticed something odd. Does the accessory (ignition switch) wire on a PDS only come on when switched to forward or reverse?
