where to hook up brake cables on 91 club car
I have a 1991 club car carryall (has tilt bed). Years ago the rear brake cables were unhooked when original owner ran unit with snow chains (the chains hit brake cables). I want to re-hook up brakes but if i simply connect the u shaped bracket to the brake assembly, the brake cables hit the frame and lock up. Is there supposed to be an offset bracket?? i cant find any pictures online showing the brake cable hooked onto the brake assembly. all pictures show view looking at shoes.
any pics from underneath would be helpful thanks in advance |

Re: where to hook up brake cables on 91 club car
Here's a diagram of the brake setup. I can get a pic of mine when I get home. The cable attaches to a small lever (#10) with a pin (#11). When the lever is pulled forward, the brakes are engaged, and when the lever is released, so are the brakes. I don't recall a special bracket being needed, but I haven't looked under there in awhile.
Is the cart lifted by any chance? Much like lifting a truck, sometimes lifting a cart can cause brake cables to tighten up, and you may require longer ones. |

Re: where to hook up brake cables on 91 club car
Here's a pic of my 07 cable bracket...
it looks a bit different than yours because your engine pan connects all of the way to the axle, and mine doesn't... but the idea is the same! There should be a "C" type of hold down on a bracket, that the the cable sheave gets clipped into to hold the cable sheave in place. |

Re: where to hook up brake cables on 91 club car
thanks for the pics guys. i found the problem. the old owner cut and re-welded bracket in a different position to allow for snow chain clearance. i cut off bracket and re-welded them like in your picture. Now the brake cable doesnt rub frame. as you can see in forst picture the cable would never work.

i removed, cleaned and rewelded the bracket to location as in your pictures. now the cable lines up and doesnt bind up. brakes work again. thank you

it sure was nice having forklift attachment to lift the cart . i locked lift rams inplace for added workers protection. Made welding and working so much easier.
