Default Front HUb Has About 1/8" Play

Had front right tire off today and notice there is a little play in the hub...is that normal?

Just pull the pin, nut, and pull out the bearings and repack them and reinstall. If they are sealed bearings, then pull them and inspect them, if they are loose in your hand or sloppy or rough when you turn them in your hand, replace them from most any bearing place (Motion Ind., NAPA, etc.) or your local auto parts store.

There shouldn’t be any if much play in the hub bearing. A small amount is permissible but not ideal. For precedents, you’re likely to have issues removing the bearings, and replacing the entire hub might be an easier option.

It is probably metric hubs and sealed bearings. You will see the nut when you remove the black plastic dust cap. If it has a silver metal cap, someone has already converted it over to SAE.

Ok thanks, I'll take a look.

Off hand, how many grease fittings front/back?

I'm not positive on a Precedent, probably 3 at the rod ends and 1 on each spindle center pin. None on the back that I know of but one of the Precedent guys will know for sure.

There should not be any in and out play on a Precedent hub. The nut should be tightened until there is no play at all. There are only two grease fittings on a Precedent. One on each spindle.

The nut that holds the hub on the spindle. There's only one nut on a Precedent hub.
