Default Re: How screwed am I? Blown piston?

I have not worked on a 625. An assumption would be it is similar to the other single cylinder clones. Changing the connecting rod does require removing the side cover and cylinder head along with the piston. A partial gasket set would be needed. I have no idea on pricing since I do all my own work. Sorry I can't help more.

You could use Ray logic "You can't kill something that is already dead" that being your present engine. Take it out, take it apart, take a lot of pics and get comfortable single cylinder engine work. There is plenty of clone engine videos on youtube maybe not the 625 but all the single cylinder clones similar. The main difference on the 625 is having an oil pump. The clones are pretty simple even with the ignition using a simple magneto coil set up as compared to some of the stock carts where this can be problematic with their more complex ignition systems.

Youtube to the rescue again. On youtube a guy tears down a 625 under the heading "The Chonkzilla Project" . You can see how there are very few parts inside. Ads he mentions very similar to the honda 390 and it's clones.

That is the first look I have seen inside a 625. Wow it sure looks like with billet rod in this thing it would be pretty bullet proof. I was wondering about the valve train again Wow nice stuff. No doubt about it with some tinkering there would be Big power gains in a pretty small package for a cart engine.

I will add if I were in your position after seeing the 625 internals I would be building myself a modded 625.
