Default smoking txt

Hi All
wonder if anyone can help me out. I have an ezgo TXT with a robin 295cc engine. The compression is 150 on both cylinders I have set the valve lash at .004 when engine is cold. New oil but the engine smokes. Any idea why this should happen.

what year cart? Is it lifted? did it just start or has it gotten progressively worse and how long?
sounds like the oil ring(s) are stuck.
Check the basics first, Pull the plugs and see if one or both are fouling,
Engine oil level good? that is more critical than most think.
PCV tube cracked or clogged?
Might go as far as pulling the muffler and seeing if it continues smoking or maybe just oil in muffler

Most importantly, check the oil level and make sure it isnt way over full, and if it is, smell the dip stick to see if it smells of gas. A sticking float valve in the carb will let it flow gas through the intake into the crankcase. That will make it smoke, foul plugs, and can do serious motor damage.

If not overfilled with oil and none in air cleaner I would say its time for a rebuild. Look close where you adjust your valves and see if you see more threads on the middle two.
You could add a teaspoon of oil in each cylinder and see if your compression goes up

Leaking valve stem seals can also cause smoking, typically a puff of smoke each time it starts. Its almost 20 years old so Im sure it could use some and its a fast, easy job.
