2000 Club Car DS 48V Motor Cutting Out
I have a 2000 Club Car DS 48v resistor cart. Purchased about a year ago. batteries are 2018 Trojan. When purchased, the cart "stuttered" a bit at light throttle like the V Glide was going out. Used the old "trick" to pump the pedal a bunch of times. Cleared the problem and ran trouble free for a year.
One day the cart decided to start stuttering again with low pedal input. I decided to have a dealer fix the cart to make things easier. Asked for the V Glide to be replaced. Shop said my 20yr old D&D motor needed to be rebuilt. Done. Didn't solve the issue. Then they replaced the stock controller with a rebuilt. Did not resolve. Motor was then replaced with a new D&D motor. Not resolved. I then took the cart back and replaced the V Glide myself which was clearly overdue for a new one. Not resolved. Batteries load tested as good. OBC was then bypassed as I have a new Summit 2 charger for my other DS. Seemed to fix the problem. Here's where it gets odd... On jack stands, the cart runs flawlessly. Put the cart on the ground and the issues return. It will not go unless it's given a push to start. Motor will kick in and the cart will go. In the first few miles, if you come to a full and complete stop, you'll have to push to start. After about 5 miles, the cart runs just fine with a very occasional loss of power for a second or two when lifting off the throttle and then pressing back down. After it sits for a little bit, same issue starts all over again. Today I will replace the battery cables and re-check all connections. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
