Re: 350 With 295 Head
I have the same setup, MCI 350/295 head, and was wondering what rpm's you are seeing at 35mph? Mine runs slightly rich and at 3900 rpm's with a GPS, it runs 30mph with 8:1 gears. Do you have any govenor left or is it screwed tight?
Thanks, |

Re: 350 With 295 Head
Radical, Have you treid cleaning the carb?
After installing my MSD I found I had a fuel problem at high revs. Changed filter, tried different pump, even tried leaving the cap loose thinking it was not venting and pulling a vacuum. Then I took the carb apart and sprayed about a can and a half of carb cleaner through everything. Ran like a rapped ape after that. |

I also have 23" tires with 14" wheels on it. Its pretty much running wide open. Don't have any tools to determine what rpms that I am running @.

Re: 350 With 295 Head
I had a few of the parts already but FastFred sells a kit that will include everything.
Before going to an MSD I would make sure you have good valves and springs and add an oil cooler. Also get a tach to keep an eye on the Revs. I did all that and switched to Mobile 1 syn before I put the MSD in. |

Re: 350 With 295 Head
Hey Radical, are you running the stock 295 carb or the 350 carb. im about to do a 350 with a 295 head and i have both carbs, so i dont know which would be better.
Also about these valves you guys are talking about.. does anyone have any pics? i would really like to see what they look like. Im about to order a bunch of valves for the engines im rebuilding and wouldnt mind puttin somethin in that are harder then the aftermarket replacement ones. |
