G2 -gets HOT
Hello- newbie here, I have a G2 and after running awhile it gets real hot in the engine compartment and the grandkids say the backseat even gets hot! Is this normal for a cart like this or do I have some other problem. It runs great! Thank you for any feedback--Tom

Re: G2 -gets HOT
when i had the stock motor in my g9 it would get really hot where you could feel the heat through the seat. it is air cooled so the slower you go the less air the engine gets. never had trouble out of mine either.

Re: G2 -gets HOT
If the motor is leaking oil, the cooling fins around the cylinder are probably caked with oil and dirt. Or some critter built a nest in there somewhere. Ether way take off the cooling shrouding and clean it out, as well as stop the oil leak.

Re: G2 -gets HOT
Mine does not get hot. Check if the fan (opposite the primary clutch) has missing fins, dirty or clogged. Check if the fan cover is covered with dirt, mud, leaves, etc preventing air to get thru.
You could install a small electric fan (12v) or open up a small window for ventilation if all else fail. |

Re: G2 -gets HOT
Checked out fan shroud and fins all in good shape! I'll put some more heat resistance insulation under the seats and deal with it that way! The little fan and extra vent hole sounds like a good solution too. Thanks for the feedback-Tom

Re: G2 -gets HOT
You could likely just blow a fan over the trans so it came out under the rear bumper, then new air would come up in there. Mine leaked oil and plugged the fins up. Had to take the shrouding all off and clean it with a screwdriver and can of brake clean. It ran cooler after that. It would get hot and lose power. It still does but not like it was, but lot of hours on it going to get replaced very soon with more HP.

Check the classifieds here, watch epay, a dealer may have new but I would go used.

Re: G2 -gets HOT
my g1 was getting hot and i couldnt figure it out for the life of me . so i decided to power wash the motor and look for anything that was un-usual . didnt find nothing so i put the motor back in the cart ran it and quickly discovered that the crank seals where bad which was causing ther fuel pump to lose pressure and was starving the engine from gas causing it to over heat (i run pre-mix so it was getting little oil as well)
