Default marathon rear fender caps

has anybody found a quality pair of the flexible plastic fender caps for a 1990 marathon?....i purchased a set from a site sponsor.....do not fit!....rivet holes dont even come close to lining up.....called the local ezgo dealer......parts guy says theirs dont even mount up all that good....took off my damaged ones and am hoping to locate a decent pair......

what a great site (BGW).!!!!...have learned a lot about the marathons since my cart purchase 3 weeks ago....

depends on which "caps" you are referring to - the rubber-ish rear caps are (as you've learned) pretty difficult to fit without some heat, massaging, stretching, etc - my cart actually had a new one with it (not on the cart) and after all the headaches, etc getting the cart together, painted, etc I ended up going nuts trying to get the new one to fit just right. NOW, if I remember I used a heat gun on low to soften it up just a bit carefully and that gave me a little latitude to coax it into place (could have been the "other halfs" blowdryer on high, though - I'm good for tricks like that from time to time when I'm in a hurry or too lazy to look for tools)

If you're referring to the "spike guards" (on top of the fender - harder plastic) then your only real option if the holes are off would be to find press fasteners with a larger head and enlarge or elongate the holes (try NAPA, they have a lot of different trim fasteners) - mine lined up OK but one was a little tweaked from having stuff sitting on the cart for a few years so it buzzed, I fixed that w a little double-sided tape under the guard, been a year plus and still nice and silent.

its the end fender caps, not the spike guards.....i may have to go with the heat gun massage unless someone has found some decent ones....i was surprised when i called my ezgo dealer and they said the caps they get dont fit any better......the bad part about buying and restoring older carts is low quality reproduction parts are sometimes the only thing available....
