Speed contoller on a 1993 Freedom EZGO
I acquired a 1993 Freedom EZGO cart from a neighbor who was moving out of the neighborhood. It runs fine on the flat but is very slow going up even a small hill. I heard that there is something I can do to the controller to speed up the cart on hills. Is that true? If so what can be done?

Re: Speed contoller on a 1993 Freedom EZGO
My bet is you have a Marathon and if it has the stock Curtis controller, it is what it is. Sorry. Those era carts topped out at 12mph on the flat and were dogs on inclines on a freshly charged battery pack.
Make sure your batteries are in top condition. Make sure cables are in good shape and clean and tight. Make sure pack is fully charged. And doesn't that model tap two of the batteries to power the Freedom package? If so, check those two batteries voltage as they are being taxed above and beyond the other four. Usually a good idea to rotate the tap around to all six. You can however fix the torque and speed issue but it will cost ya'. Any of the site sponsors can fix ya' up with upgrade options. Good luck. |
