st 350 runs good untill I make a long run
I just bought a 2005 ST 350 and it runs good. Fires right up, good throttle response etc. I took it to the beach and I was going along at wide open throttle for about 3/4 of a mile and the engine started sputtering and back firing. I slowed down and it died. tried to restart in neutral and I had to use the choke to start it. After starting it was running okay. put it in forward and it was running okay until I ran down the beach a little further and it did it again. If i Just run around and vary the throttle this problem doesn't happen. It seems like it happens only after a long run with throttle on a high setting. I am scratching my head what could be happening with it. it almost acts like it starts to starve for fuel. The guy I bought it from put a new fuel pump on it but it is not an ez-go stock pump. I am going to try and adjust the valves and see if this helps it. any other ideas to try?

It could be that the main jet in carb has some crud in it. I would check the valves and clean the carb real good and blow it out with air.
Have you checked the air filter? |

Several of us have been chasing the same problem. No solutions yet.

Sounds like fuel starvation.

Also check that your gas cap is vented.

Re: st 350 runs good untill I make a long run
Just checked gas cap and it seems to be venting. the fuel filter is not full of gas. I blew into the line from the engine to the fuel pump diaphragm and hear a gurgling noise. I am going to take it off and see what is in there.

Re: st 350 runs good untill I make a long run
Will appear to be like half full. If you slow down to a slower engine speed does it still cut off ? I'm thinking fuel pump may have some issues or the pulse line may have some oil in it..

Re: st 350 runs good untill I make a long run
the fuel filter is not half full.If i slow down and put it in neutral and rev it up it starts to run fine. put in gear and drives normal until I hold the throttle constant for a long period of time. Thinking about buying an OEM fuel pump for it.
