Default Just when you think you're done...

Retired and kid in grad school, then I get adopted.

I was cleaning up branches getting ready for a fire tomorrow, when this little guy crawls up my arm.

I told my wife that if times get tough, we could prolly live on the squirrels, possums, racoons, etc, in our yard. No eatin' squirrels now! He's a member of our family.

Hes cute! I once had a pet squirrel. The trick is to meet them when they are very young and haven't had bad experiences with humans yet. He will love it if you feed him shelled pecans. Anyway, I at first thought he was a male and named him Larry. Then, in January - when they mate - I realized he was a she! So, I changed his name to Larryette. He is gone now, but I still have fond memories of Larryette! He would come into my house about 5 ot 6 feet to get shelled pecans. I used to have my friends over and they would freak out over having a squirell in the house!......

I'll have to learn how to feed him. He didn't like cashews, but liked milk.

To keep this on topic, I'll take him on a buggy ride later today.

Larryette was too shy for a buggy ride! He seems great! And I always liked that if all the humas in my life hated me that day, she was always happy to see me, no matter what!

I gotta figure out a name, but I gave him/her a proper home.

I suspect it's gonna sleep in our bed the first coupla nights. I worry about rolling over on it.

Wow! He is much tamer than Larryette. You must have met him earlier! Watch his behavior in January and February. He may be a she! If he is being chased, he is a she. If he is chasing, he is a he!

I had them get in my attic for two mating seasons. Got to hear them running all over the place. I was scared about them chewing my wiring, and set a non-deadly trap, but once I saw how they got in, I waited until it was calm - babies outside, then fixed it.

To answer another question, I literally found him half an hour ago.

kellybell, would you like another pet squirrel? Free delivery! Not joking, PM if interested.

I would love one! But, squirrels are territorial, and have been known to walk 20 miles to get back to their home base. I love them, but bringing him here would just confuse him. You should take a look at adopting him. I always thought that Larryette made the best pet. No feeding if I didn't have food. Didn't have to remember to feed her, and if I traveled, she didn't care. And when I got back, she was always happy to see me and my pecans!
