I had a 1/2 lab - 1/2 shepherd that averaged one squirrel a week. Once they learn the trick, they look just like a cat stalking its prey. After it quit being fun, they lost interest, so my brother and I used to tie a string to it and run around the yard and let her "chase" it, so we got our money's worth out of them.
Had a stray cat in college that did the same with birds. Supposedly, a wild animal bringing you dead prey is a big deal. Trying the same, I tied a string around the dead bird, and hung it from a tree in the front yard, so the cat could bat it around. Naturally that was the day the Landlord came by for a visit, and sees a dead bird in a noose hanging from a tree branch near the front door. God knows what he thought. Also gave some though about calling my buddy who has a python, and buys "farm grown" rats - disease free, but figure I'll keep him for now.

Um, Cats aren't domesticated ... humans are tolerated so long as they continue to bring food.
