Gauge wire for longer charger cable to cart plug

Would like to put a longer cable from ezgo 36v charger to the cart and leave charger inside, etc. What gauge wire is needed, would like to be about a 12ft to 15ft cable. I have seen the EZGO 18' cord listed for $200-$300 was hoping I could buy correct wire and reuse existing plug for less.

If you are staying under 20', 12ga should suffice, over 20', I 'd go with 10Ga.
