Default Jakes Long Travel Lift Kit Question

I believe my EZGO TXT Electric is a 2001 - 2009. No manufacturer's plate but looks like the steering knuckle is on the axle.

I am finding Jake's long travel Lift Kit for the 1994 - 2000 lift kit to be about $300.00 cheaper.

Could I just get a steering column from an older TXT and then use the kit for the 1994 -2000? Trying to save a few bucks and I can get an old steering column for less than $50.

Thanks.

It's just not the steering column that's different. It's the entire steering mechanism. The 2001 and up is a rack and pinion type system. The older type is just a gear box.

Thanks, if I could get the gear box and the steering column could I do this swap or would there be additional modifications or parts I'd need?

For the amount of money it would take plus labor (time) to convert a new style steering ezgo to old style steering you would be wise to buy the new jakes long travel for 2001+. The rack and pinion is a much better steering system and with the jakes long travel you get an entirely new steering system. Well worth the extra money for the lift kit.

You are probably right. Spoke with both Jakes and Allsports about their lifts today. Jakes is adjustable from 4 - 8 inches, Allsports is not - straight 6 inch lift.

I'm going to go with the Jakes LT kit because it is adjustable. I'm not looking to jack my cart way up, I'd love it if I could keep it stock height. I just want a much better ride.

Something you may want to think about. If you like stock look. The from wheels will be out farther then rear with Jakes. Mine is that way and the ride is awesome. I like the look and stability. If you order straight from all sports they can match your front width with the rear. They will make it custom. Look forward to a great ride either way.

Mine already has 12' Cragar S/S wheels with 2 inch spacers on the hubs on front! So stock is out the window, I just don't want it jacked up too much.

Lift kit in! Of course as is my normal practice I was tightening the battery cables and popped a post out of the lead (**** batteries are only a year old too!)

Drilled out the lead with a 1/4 in drill and set in a 1 1/2 inch post. All fixed. Trying out the lift kit today.
