Hit reverse - cart goes "CLUNK"
Cart Guru's
When I go from forward to reverse I am getting a huge clunk in my rear end when hitting accelerator. Any ideas what it could be? |

Re: Hit reverse - cart goes "CLUNK"
Check your rear hubs for tightness. The torque value is 140flbs and tighten more as necessary to line up the cotter pin hole. Also check the motor (3 bolts) for tightness to the transaxle.

Re: Hit reverse - cart goes "CLUNK"
Some clunking is normal since there are no backlash adjustments for the differential gears.
Lift only one of the rear wheels off the ground and rock it clockwise and counterclockwise with your hands and you will hear it. I occasionally hear my cart (car, furnace, lawnmower, whatever) making new sounds and when I investigate, sometimes I find something wrong, but other tines I find out it has always been making the sound and I just hadn't heard it before. Of course, once I've identified the sound, I can't stop hearing it. I'm not saying the clunk you are hearing is normal, just saying there is some slop in the differential gears and they can clunk when changing direction. Like simple man said, check the hubs and motor for tightness. Also check the spring and shock mounts, the axle tries to flex them differently when the cart's direction changes. |
