Would it be a good choice to go more hp? Or is that just opening up a bunch of other upgrades?

???? I meant to measure voltage on solenoid terminals from Battery -. The solenoid is is a good point to start troubleshooting but measure referenced to battery -. Good voltage measured from B- to the solenoid is a good place to determine the battery, connection and the solenoid contacts are ok across the solenoid, however if you measured across the two big solenoid contacts and got zer0 volts ACROSS them the solenoid is probably ok. The motor.... when you put a wrench on it what snapped? Did the terminal out of the motor snap or the cable lug? In either case the motor connection was probably caused by a poor connection rather than a short in the motor.. I would guess the motor is otherwise ok but if the terminal is burnt and broke off you will need to get it repaired and checked out but not necessarily rebuilt. Probably need to replace the cable to the motor too. Upgrading at this point would be opening up another can of worms. If you didn't like spending $250 on a controller that didn't fix the problem you are not gonna like the price of upgrading. But you found one of the problems, probably the problem.

Now we can deal with the other problem with the batteries and the charger not cutting off. 38.4 volts after letting set for 8 or so hours is ok. But if that is the reading right after charging for an extended time that is a low reading and the charger may not cut off. Gonna have to make some more voltage measurements during charging cycle across the battery bank. Another thing to consider is all the voltage tests you made the motor was not operating or drawing any current because of the bad connection so the voltage was not under any load.

The post out of the motor snapped. It was badly burnt. You think I should just replace the post in the motor? Is there anyway to test the motor when it is out of the cart?

There is a yuppy cart place close to me that im going to have to take the motor too. Their obviously going to look at the motor and tell me that im going to have to rebuild the motor at the very least.

The connection to the motor seemed tight It wasnt' loose or anything. Badly burnt though Put two wrenches on the nuts and it snapped right off with little effort

Let's review the situation.
Cart does not move.
Solenoid clicks.
Battery pack voltage does not decrease much, if any, when pedal is pushed.
Voltage between B- and M- terminals on controller decrease from about 30V when solenoid clicks down to near Zero when pedal is pushed to floor.

A motor with worn out brushes and a huge carbon dust build up could produce those symptoms.

Hopefully, rebuilding/replacing the motor will get the cart moving again.

Ugh. 200 Dollar used motor did not help a bit. Exact same problem. Charged batteries sunday until the amp meter on the charger went down to 0. Charger did not turn off by itself. Batteries read 42.8v immediately after disconnecting the charger. 24hrs later they read 38.6. I really don't think its the batteries at this point. What is the next step with this thing?? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

How do you test a motor to see if it is good?
