Re: New setup/slow go
Quote:
Most of the "Data" published about cart motors is pseudo-data akin to the "New and Improved" claims in laundry detergent commercials. Stating that a motor produces 10 HP at 36V provides about the same amount of useable information as stating the motor is painted Orange. If a motor generates 15 ft/lb of torque at 3,450 RPM, it is producing 10 HP. If a motor generates 26 ft/lb of torque at 2,000 RPM, it is producing 10 HP. If a motor generates 53 ft/lb of torque at 1,000 RPM, it is producing 10 HP. If a motor generates 105 ft/lb of torque at 500 RPM, it is producing 10 HP. Stating the motor produces 6.1 HP @ 5,330 RPM at 36V does tell me it generates 6.01 ft/lb of torque at relatively high RPM, but that is only a single point on the Torque vs RPM curve, so I don't know what the low end torque is. Having a HP vs RPM data point for two voltages for the same motor is still a single data point on the respective torque curves. At 36V it works out to 13.41 ft/lb of Torque will at 48V it is 13.96 ft/lb of Torque. If the HP at the same RPM for the two voltages had been given, or the RPM at the same Torque had been give, would have shown that the motor generates about 33% more Torque at the same RPM, or spins about 33% faster at the same Torque, when there is a 33% increase in voltage. However, whoever published the data chose to confuse the issue by showing a 26% increase in Torque and a 22% increase in RPM, obscuring the true data. |

Re: New setup/slow go
Yeah Johnnie B, that was my basic point, most of the information is not detailed enough to use for comparison.
I would appreciate published data like: RPM per volt unloaded. A complete dyno sheet from 0 rpm to whatever the max rpm is, with torque every 100 RPM listed. |

Re: New setup/slow go
No one has mentioned the obvious. Before you do anything you need to get a serial cable and connect your laptop to your controller. It might have some wrong setting like the max current or the max speed turned down to 50%.

Re: New setup/slow go
One more thought on the programming. I upgraded my motor and controller and was sort of not impressed at first. I emailed Alltrax and asked if there was a new field map available for my motor/controller combination. He emailed me a new field map and it really perked it up. Hope this helps
