Battery question
My 1989 electric ez-go 36 volt golf cart batteries read fair with a hydrometer. Each battery reads 6 volt individually and 36 volt total pack. Do I need need batteries?

Re: Battery question
How old are the battery? 6 volts out of a 6 volt battery is only 50 % state of charge and/or near dead.... Fully charged a 6 volt battery should be holding nearest to 6.37 volts or 38.20 volts across a 36 volt pack after a full charge and 12 hours rest...Never run a battery down past 50 % it is not good for them....

Re: Battery question
I don’t know battery age. New to golf carts. Bought this one about a week ago. Looks nice and runs good but am concerned about the batteries. I dread the thought of cost for batteries. Really can’t afford to buy all six at once. The digital meter I used to check the batteries only reads 6.0 volts doesn’t increment voltage. Any thoughts on improving on the batteries I have? thanks for your help.

Re: Battery question
When you buy a used cart, you should expect that the batteries may not last that long unless they are new. You need a better DVM that reads out in .01 volts to properly read the battery voltages. All you can do with your batteries is keep them charged and topped off with distilled H2O. If they are near the end of their life, you should replace them all at once. Replacing them a couple at a time is not good at all. Your replacements will have a very much shortened life.

Re: Battery question
100% ... ( esp. If your run time is significantly reduced )
How old are batteries ... Should have date code stamped on top of battery |
