jam nuts
what is yalls opinion on using jam nuts on all cables connections ?
was thinking a hunting buggy might need some thanks |

I think its the lead terminal's "softness" that "gives" and makes bad connections in general, not the terminal nut "backing-off". Other factors are invloved too, heat is #1 in my mind as a contributing factor. I will be "killed" if i dont include correct torque on the terminals in the first place.

Many motor terminals include lock-washers, i would too.

Jam-nuts are often on the "motor side" of the terminal, to keep the connection "the same" as it was and not "help" the overheated connection destroy the insulator going into the motor housing. All the yamaha hitachi motors do this, and i have yet to see one of the insulators fail. I dont see "double nuts" on the "outside" or user servicable side where the lug is connected. I usually see "double-nuts" in situations where the "last guy" was trying to extend the life of damaged terminal threads. Im not saying it would be bad, but i am suspicious when i see it, because the factory doesnt do it, but guys who are trying to mask damaged threads do.
