Default 1982 EZGO resistor cart running on 48 V

I have a working 1982 EZGO resistor cart. I installed one 6 V and four 8 V batteries (38 V) to test the motor, which works fine. If I install six 8 V batteries will the resistors take the extra power without damage. I will get a 48 V charger. The motor will not be using the resistors long, just enough time to get it going and then full speed ahead. The resistors are in the back over the differential.

There is on old thread here somewhere where a member was running about 72 volts or so through the resistor drive. Ill see if I can find it.

Its not really recommended and may not last long.

Thumbs up Re: 1982 EZGO resistor cart running on 48 V

Can it be done yes! How long will the resistor's last who knows. Depends on how fast are how slow you ride it. If everything is working like it should the cart will not be using the resistors once you are running wide open.

I ran my 86 with 48v on resistors for about 2 days before all the coils except full speed melted and fell off. Popped a few wheelies and threw some gravel on my way back home. Changed to controller. Works much better.
